The 18-year-old from Thornville is in her senior year at Sheridan High School, taking college classes two days a week on the campus of The Ohio State University at Newark through the College Credit Plus program and is serving on the Thornville Village Council.

Gov. John Kasich designated Buckeye Hills-Hocking Valley Regional Development District (Buckeye Hills) as an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO).

Gypsy Moth open house set Feb. 17 in Shawnee

Areas across Ohio are slated to receive gypsy moth aerial treatments by the Ohio Department of Agriculture in early spring to slow the spread of the destructive insect. Department staff members will host an open house in treatment areas that will offer attendees the opportunity to speak directly with those who work with the program, learn about the pest, and view maps of treatment areas.

Fundamentals of Wildland Fire Suppression course to be offered

In cooperation with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry, the Perry County Firefighters and EMS Association will host a program titled, Fundamentals of Wildland Fire Suppression on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the New Lexington Fire Department on South Main Street.
