The ‘cold bitter’ truth about Milligan’s Bend

    The temperature near McLuney was bone-chilling cold over 112 years ago.

    Not far away in a hamlet known as Milligan, the lowest recorded temperature in Ohio history, minus 39 degrees Fahrenheit, was recorded at the U.S. Weather Bureau during Perry County’s Great Blizzard of 1899. The date was February 10, 1899 and the entire state of Ohio had experienced bitterly cold weather for over a week.
