A vicious, anonymous letter writing campaign upset people in the county. The sheriff was looking into the letter writing. Corning Mayor Edward Siemer was fondly remembered after he passed away. The groundbreaking ceremony for the $1 million Perry County Group Home. A massive renovation grant for the Ohio Ceramic Center was approved. The Perry County Special Olympians prepared for the state summer games.

Randall Talbot was named superintendent of the Southern Local School District. Bruce Buckley was appointed to the Naval Academy. New Lexington council kept a close check on use of cruisers. The foundation group granted scholarships. Gerald Bolyard was installed as the president of New Lexington Aerie No. 2070 Fraternal Order of Eagles.
