NEW LEXINGTON — Judge Tina Boyer, Judge of the Perry County Court of Common Pleas, General Division, announced that the Court received a grant from the Ohio Supreme Court through the 2020 Remote Technology Grant Opportunity.
The Court currently has videoconferencing capabilities in the Courtroom. However, the grant was obtained to supplement the existing Courtroom technology. The Court will be able to purchase three laptops. The laptops will be used by parties, attorneys or witnesses who may not have the technology to connect to the Court’s videoconferencing. The laptops will also be used by the Judge and Magistrate to conduct pretrials by videoconference in their offices.
The Supreme Court provided this funding opportunity, which was focused on the purchase of equipment necessary to quickly facilitate remote access for Ohio Courts. The grant was due to the emergency need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
