The Perry County Retired Teachers Association announced they plan to award their annual scholarship for the academic year in the amount of $500.
Applicants must have graduated form a Perry County high school, and be a college junior or senior enrolled in the College of Education at some point during the 2014-15 academic year.
This award, which started in 1997, rotates to each county school district in alphabetical order. If the school district in the order of rotation has no applicant who meets the guidelines in a particular year, the award goes to the next district in the rotation.
This year, graduates of Sheridan High School, in the Northern Local School District, will be given first consideration.
Applicants may send a letter expressing why he/she had a desire to enter the field of education. Please include the applicant’s college and a current grade point average.
