NEW LEXINGTON — Fire swept through a mobile home at 208 W. Lincoln Street in New Lexington in the early morning hours of Monday, Nov. 16. New Lexington Fire Department Chief Jim Fain reports that the call came through around 5 a.m.
New Lexington firefighters as well as the Somerset Fire Department responded to the scene. Chief Fain reported that New Lexington Police records show that the home was uninhabited at the time of the fire. The mobile home was a total loss. No firefighters were injured in the incident.
Chief Fain contacted the State Fire Marshal concerning the blaze because “we all know fires don’t start by themselves in abandoned buildings.” The State Fire Marshal was on the scene the next morning, but declined to make a comment at that time.
The State Fire Marshal’s office has not released a cause of the fire at this time. Chief Fain believes the official report could well be listed as “undetermined” due to the extent of the damage.
