NEW LEXINGTON – An educational falconry event will take place on Friday, Oct. 8 in New Lexington. Presented by the Layers of Life program in partnership with the Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the event will feature Ohio Falconry Association President Mike Brown and two Harris Hawks, Purdy and Zippy, and will provide information about wild raptors and the sport of falconry. At the end of the session attendees will be able to get photos with the birds. The presentation will be open to the public from 3:30–6 p.m. at Arethusa Springs Park, 426 Fowler Lane, New Lexington.
Layers of Life (LOL) in Nature, LLC is a program development company under contract for 2021-2022 with the Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) to integrate the use of nature-based activities within agencies and organizations throughout Perry County. The goals of LOL in Nature and PCBDD are to develop a community oriented inclusive model through:
• Identification of nature-based sites throughout the Perry County where local providers can utilize nature in their services for the people they serve.
• Development of nature-based activities for agencies through the philosophies of trauma-informed care and sensory-rich activities through the Layers of Life Model, that is customized for each agency.
• Training of current agency providers and community members on the utilization of nature-based activities and services to integrate into their already existing programming.
