NEW LEXINGTON — It has been a difficult year for people in the business world, and the Elks were no exception. Being closed for 14 weeks caused a major hardship financially. However, the club was still able to serve the community through grants that had been written beforehand.

With the assistance of Jessie, Wyatt, and club manager Shei Howdyshell, the Elks were able to serve 2,166 meals to the community.

The groups included monthly breakfasts, a veterans’ dinner, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners along with meals for football, volleyball, girls and boys basketball teams, and a special Christmas drive thru for the children.

When you look at the past year, the old saying “Elks Care Elks Share” has a very special meaning. If you would like to be part of this organization, stop in and pick up an application.

The Tribune staff would like to personally thank Mr. Mike Sherlock for the periodic Elks updates, including the above message.
