NEW LEXINGTON — Another traditional fall event has moved into cancellation mode due to the coronavirus. Hopewell Health Centers, Inc. has hosted the hugely popular Trunk Or Treat for over 15 years, but this year's event has been cancelled.
Carmel Groce, LPN, Site Manager at the New Lexington Hopewell Health Centers, Inc., released the following statement on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 8:
"Hopewell Health Centers has made the decision to cancel 2020 Trunk Or Treat. The decision was an easy one, even though it should not have been so easy. We have enjoyed putting this event on for over 15 years. Hopewell Health Centers, Inc. promotes a healthy/safe environment, social distancing, and face covering requirements at all times. We want to continue to keep our staff, our patients, and the community safe. That said, none of this would be maintained during the event."
When asked about the possibility of re-establishing the Trunk Or Treat tradition for 2021, Groce said those plans are already on the calendar.
"Hopewell Health Centers, Inc. has already scheduled next year's Trunk Or Treat. We are all very excited to host this event again, picking up where we left off," said Groce.
Hopewell Health Centers, Inc. Outreach Committee Co-Chairs, Jennifer Nash and Jane Moore, added that Oct. 21, 2021 has been selected for next year's Trunk Or Treat.
