A Mount Perry youth charged with a probation violation was fined court costs. The youth was placed at ALPHA, on Intensive Probation and on house arrest.
A 17-year-old Roseville boy charged with underage consumption was fined $150 and court costs. His driver’s license is suspended until age 18 and he was ordered to attend counseling. He was ordered to complete the Theft Program. He was placed on Intensive Probation and in the Youth and Family Services Program.
A New Lexington youth charged with domestic violence was fined court costs. The youth was ordered to attend counseling. They were placed at ALPHA, on Intensive Probation and in Out of Home Placement.
A 16-year-old Crooksville girl charged with possession of marijuana was fined court costs. She was ordered to attend counseling. She was placed on Intensive Probation and in Residential Drugs Treatment.
In February of 2020, the ALPHA students participated in the annual thermal energy and efficiency STEM test held at The Works in Newark. Under the direction of Jeff Baker, the science teacher at ALPHA, the student have completed several years in such things as the STEM test and bridge building. The students took pride in their work competing and putting a lot of effort into the project. Matt Watts was a senior proudly representing ALPHA. Team ALPHA had the most robust and unique design allowing them to take No. 1 in the thermal performance category.
The Juvenile Court Probation officers, Mendy Boley, Gary Martin and Jeff York are making weekly and sometimes daily contact with all the youth (and their families) who are on probation. The court has approximately 80-85 youth on probation. The probation officers also delivered educational packets to all the APHA students (approximately 35 students).
Judge Cooperrider heard four children services cases this week. One child is in the permanent custody of Perry County Children Services. Three children were placed in the custody of kinship providers. All parents were ordered to complete services or drugs and alcohol counseling, mental health counseling and they must remain clean drug screenings.
