Grace Frame took home the regional title in shot put and the Sheridan Lady Generals will send runners to the state championships as track regionals wrapped up this past week.
Frame, who had to leave the softball regional final and head to the regional meet, made the quick trip across Chillicothe to Southeastern to compete in the shot-put event.
The senior hit a final mark of 38 feet, 6 inches, which was 1/2-inch enough to claim the title over Sydney Foglesong of Adena, who was second with 38-5 1/2. Along with the shot-put title, Frame will also compete in the discus event at states after a third-place finish.
In Division II, The Lady Generals had more than a strong showing at regionals, as multiple competitors will head to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Rilea White will join Frame in the shot-put event after finishing fourth with a persona record of 37-1/4.
Katelyn Heath will return to the long jump competition after a second-place finish. She placed eighth last year at the state championships.
Claire Shriner and Beckett Strong finished second and third in the 300-meter hurdles to book their trip to Columbus.
The 4x400-meter team of Heath, Shriner, Strong and Julie Nichols took home the regional championship in that event, setting a new school record.
Nichols, Strong, Heath, and Adrienne Spicer teamed up to take second in the 4x200-meter relay while setting a school record of 1:46:10.
New Lexington’s 4x800-meter team of Sydney Hambel, Grace Baker, Emma Abrams and McKenna Pingle earned a second straight podium appearance after finishing in eighth place. Pingle also finished fifth in the 400-meter race, breaking the one-minute barrier with a time of 59.91.
Hambel ended her stellar high school on a high note, setting a new personal record in the 3200-meter race with a time of 11:48. That time earned her sixth.
At Pickerington High School North, Sheridan’s 4x800-meter team of Cooper Winders, Simon Conrad, John Skinner and Tate Ruthers was 13th with a time of 8:46, while the 4x400-meter team of Winders, Reed Coconis, Andon Hamner and Conrad was 15th with a final mark of 3:42.24.
