NEW LEXINGTON – Crooksville avenged their early season loss to New Lex, winning 5-2 on April 26.
The visitors wasted no time in the top of the first, as Austin Love hit an RBI single that scored Ethan Sprankle. They would score again in the top of the third, with Sprankle hitting a sac fly to right field that scored Caden Sparks and put the Ceramics up 2-0.
Crooksville would score again in the top of the fourth and fifth. A crucial error at third in the top of the fifth scored both Kadin Mount and Sprankle, increasing the Ceramic lead to 5-0.
The hosts wouldn’t go down without a fight, however, as Blake Elliot scored on a grounder in the bottom of the fifth to put New Lex on the board. In the bottom of the sixth, Hunter Kellog hit a sac fly that scored another run and put the Panthers within three, 5-2. The score would remain that way for the rest of the game.
Mount earned the victory on the hill for Crooksville, lasting five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one. Caden Sparks threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Kellogg took the loss for the hosts. He went four innings, allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out two and walking zero.
