ZANESVILLE — The Lady Generals succeeded their MVL titles to get their fourth in a row after defeating West Muskingum 52-36 on Feb. 8.

With a slow start in the first of only six points, Kendyl Mick led as a senior to get two points on the board by a field goal.

The remaining four points were from Bailey Beckstedt and Gabby Carpico on the charity line.

West Muskingum has not held good statistics this season, but their showed life against Sheridan throughout the entire game, keeping close with the Lady Generals’ score each quarter.

With 16 in the second for Sheridan, the Lady Tornadoes threw up 12.

Mick was everywhere in the inside of the paint with five field goals. Beckstedt helped out in the box with two field goals of her own, along with two drained free throws.

At the half, Sheridan had the 22-18 lead over West Muskingum.

Coming out in the third quarter, Sheridan extended their point streak and halted the Lady Tornadoes offense at the same time.

Sheridan’s defense held West behind the arc to keep them to no more than 10 points on the quarter.

The Lady Generals worked as an offensive team with Mick bringing only four points to the table.

Beckstedt added six, Abby Dupler added two, Kaelyn Moss added one from the charity line and Aubrie White came out with her three-point swish.

The Lady Tornadoes only went downhill in the final quarter as Sheridan was bringing more to the board from West Muskingum’s mistakes with fouls.

Sheridan went six for six from the foul line in the quarter, with another eight points from Grace Conrad, Beckstedt and Mick.

With the win, Sheridan took the MVL title and go into bracket play this Saturday at noon at Logan High School and try to repeat their Final Four appearance.
