THORNVILLE — With an appearance at The Schottenstein Center in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Girls Basketball Final Four, the Lady Generals brought their skill and experience to Sheridan’s youth in their 26th annual camp.
The camp was a four-day long experience and training for two different groups, an older group for sixth through ninth graders, and another for second through fifth graders.
Each day, the girls had their fun with different themes to dress in as they were learning from current and former Lady Generals and their coaches.
They dressed brightly in neon to bring their skill to the court, then came dressed in professional, college and travel jerseys the next day, representing their favorite teams.
On the final day, all campers matched the players and coaches as they wore their Sheridan Generals Basketball grey camp shirts.
After their sessions were over, the campers gathered around the trophy cart to receive awards, runner-up and champion, for different basketball skills and games, including 3-on-3, 5-on-5, hot shots and more.
One particular camper stood out in the older group, a Lady General sibling, Jamisyn Stinson.
Stinson was the 2019 Elk’s Hoop Shoot National Champion, and at Sheridan’s camp, she was the recipient of all five trophies.
Each camper was given a shirt, a basketball and a summer workout to proceed with their practicing throughout the summer.
Head coach JD Walters concluded the camp with gratitude to the campers for attending and his players for assisting in the youth coaching.
