NEW LEXINGTON – Twenty-two batters up, 22 batters down. New Lex’s Lydia Stephens retired them all.
The Lady Panther junior threw a no-hitter in a 11-0 win against Miller on April 20. Stephens went six innings, allowed no runs on zero hits, walking one and striking out three.
The hosts got the scoring going in the bottom of the second, as Phoenix Williamson scored off an error on a Addee Straits ground ball.
New Lex then increased their lead with a four-run third inning, with doubles by Kylie Fink and Abby Wilson leading the way.
Miller had runners on twice in the opening three frames via errors but couldn’t shake Stephens in the circle.
In the bottom of the fifth, Rylee Newlon singled. The next batter, Abby Wilson then went yard to left for a two-run shot that made the score 7-0 in the Lady Panthers favor. The hosts would score two more runs in the inning thanks to RBIs from Straits and Soraya Taylor.
In the top of the sixth, the Lady Falcons’ Olivia Dishon was safe at first on an error. Dishon then advanced to second on another error in the same play but was called out advancing to third.
In the bottom of the frame, Jayden Allen hit a single, and Rylee Newlon hit a two-run bomb to center field to end the game at 11.
Jace Agriesti took the loss for the Lady Falcons, lasting four and two-thirds innings while allowing nine runs on 12 hits. Jayden Agriesti threw one-third of an inning in relief.
