CROOKSVILLE – The Lady Ceramics (12-4, 8-1 MVL) continued their impressive season with a 15-4 victory over West Muskingum (4-12) on April 20.
After the visitors scored a run in the top of the first, Crooksville wasted no time getting their bats going in the bottom of the frame. Sonni Nelson hit an RBI double, which scored Logyn Chamberlin. Then Grace Frame blasted a two-run triple, pushing the hosts in front 3-1.
In the bottom of the third, the Lady Ceramic bats stayed hot. Lacie O’Neal hit an RBI single, Jaelynn Nelson an RBI double, and Jailynn Thiesen a two-run double. After three innings Crooksville was in control 7-1.
The Lady Tornadoes wouldn’t go down without a fight, however, as Katlyn Foster launched a two-run shot to pull the visitors to within three in the top of the fifth.
The Lady Ceramics would answer right back in the bottom of the sixth. McKenna Headley absolutely crushed a home run, and Theisen hit an RBI single. To really put the dagger in, the hosts would end it in walk-off fashion, as Chamberlin hit a grand slam.
Headley took the win in the circle, going four innings and allowing two runs on six hits with one strikeout. Gracie Peck pitched two innings in relief, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three.
Chloe Armstrong took the loss for the visitors, going five and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 runs on 15 hits and two strikeouts.
