CROOKSVILLE – New Lexington boys’ basketball shot 50 percent from three to pull away from Crooksville and win 60-47 on Feb 4.
The Ceramics started out hot, scoring 15 points in the first quarter. Caden Sparks scored seven of those points and the hosts led 15-13 after the first.
From there, the Panther defense clamped up and the offense started rolling. The visitors used four three-pointers in the second quarter to take a one-point lead into the half, 27-26.
The second half would be as competitive, with Sparks going to the line three times, helping pull the Ceramics within three going into the final frame. The Panthers backed Brady Hanson’s 10 points in the fourth, however, and were able to put the game away.
The Panther defense held the Ceramics to just 12 of 45 from the field and 2 of 13 from three. Logyn Ratliff also had two blocks to help anchor the defense.
Hanson and Sparks were joint top scorers for the game, each scoring 22 points. Lukas Ratliff had a double-double, scoring 15 points on four-of-10 shooting and adding 10 rebounds. He also had four threes in the contest, all in the first half. Brayden Cavinee also chipped in 14 points and two three-pointers.
